Welcome to Rimba & Rusa, a Klang Valley cafe that serves up a fusion of local and western cuisine in its eclectic, two-storey setting. Vibrant green plants and wooden accents add an earthy vibe against the soft green pastels and white-washed walls, while the floor-length windows invite plenty of fresh sunlight to bathe the space in a cheery, Sunday afternoon radiance.


From the talented creators who initiated the cupcake phenomenon Wondermilk, Rimba & Rusa is another brainchild that proves its worth in the Klang Valley’s ever-changing cafe scene. Come for the food, stay for the dessert.

As a pasta lover, there was absolutely no way I could pass up on the Bello Aglio Olio, featuring shrimps, mussels and squid cooked in a confetti of garlic, cilantro and dried chilies. The Chicken & Mushroom pizza was heavenly, served on flat bread and topped with chicken chunks, juicy mushrooms, mozzarella and cheddar.


After the entrees, we gleefully moved on to the sinfully sweet Caramel Explosion, a perfect medley of vanilla ice cream, meringue, whipped cream, peanut brittle, almond snaps and drizzled with gooey salted caramel sauce. As if that wasn’t enough sugar for the weekend, we also had the delicious Berry Supreme Pavlova, with bulbous meringue stacks topped with passionfruit sauce, crunchy pomegrenate cubes and freshly whipped cream.

Definitely a Sunday to remember.
